I still can't work out why such a large proportion of TV anglers are complete idiots. John Wilson and Robson Green are a right pair of numpties. Their shows would be so much better, if they weren't in them!  At least though that Henry Gilbey and Matt Hayes had a pretty decent personality. |

John Wilson used to be my sons hero when he was about ten years old. So i took him to the NEC one year as wilson was celebrity guest there at a fishing exibition.
We walked in and wilson was stood there posing for the cameras, My boy walked up to him and asked for his autograph. His reply, "Get out of the bloody way" my lad was well upset,
So he's a tosser in real life ;D

naaaaaaaaa luved his inane larf...and caught more fish than us lot combined all over the world. O and I have an autographed autobiog that me sis got for me this crimbo from a Norfolk pub meet....do you want me to get you one max....  or is that a no... now robson green is a different matter..... :thumb: my fav is H for sea angling ..but hes shite at presenting carp or pike angling stay to something you do well at Henry. He's still a maggot drowner at heart Gazza :gay: I started off as a sea fisher'man' aged 4 with my old man, but took up coarse fishing soon after. Then when I was about 14 I walked into Scotties and heard someone say (not directed at me) 'COARSE FISHERMEN ARE A BUNCH OF P00FS!'. It was at that point I realised where my loyalties really laid :gay: I do the odd bit of carp bashing with Jim still for the fun of it |

Yeah wilson IS a pond dweller at heart for sure. He DOES look down on sea anglers. I have no hard proof but you can just tell.

can you remember a series called "A Passion For Angling" with the two old boys. Now that was good series. Bob and Steve or something. can't remember their names. I'll never forget the one where he was stalking carp whilst sitting in a tree, he got a bite and fell out of the tree. quality. |

that's the one davey. greta series. i agree that a lot of the mainstream stuff is more for entertainment than fishing. i suppose it's good in the way that it may get people into the sport who would probably have got bored and not bothered if the fishing progs were too serious and factual. And like you said above, the mrs don't mind watching it so that's a bonus not to get ear ache for watching it  |
