Well i finally took the plung and decided to upgrade from Sea Jay my trusty wilson 20. It was a shame as i did love that boat and was superb when the swell picked up, however cost a fortune to run. The new boat is St george a raider 18ft. I called it St George as i got it on St Georges day and it seemed a decent enough name. Had a fair few miles to cover to complete the package as i bought a brand new Marinder EFI 100hp four stroke from Wales as i got a superb deal. Then the very next day went to Liverpool to collect the new boat. I've spent the last week tidying it up and removing the old Johnson 90hp 2 stroke that came with it and fitting the new engine. Today was the launch day so here's a few photos of it. Have to run the engine in now so can't go to quick just yet but it went well for it's initial sea trails and i'm over the moon. Here goes. Now a few action shots, very frustrating as wanted to open it up and see how it went but so far can't complain looks like it will have a lovely comfortable cruising speed and ride. Now a few of the inside, a couple of things still being sorted such as the cooker stand and bait board but other than that it is all ready to go now. Hopefully it will do me proud.

She looks lovely mate. You wont look back, a sound purchase! Whats the running in schedule Mike on that mariner? we had to do the first few hours painfully slow on the suzuki, I bet your itching to put the throttle down. When your down there next with a camera could you get some pics of the engine well / transom for me?

Pete i'll take some photos for you, exactly what are you looking at. I guess it's the cap plate against the transom. I did do alot of research about positioning of the engine and by all accounts raiders need the plate slightly above the transom bottom. However i fitted it exactly how it should be inline and will adjust if needed. The engine sits an inch or so above the transom. The running in quite surprised me
For the first two hours of operation, run the engine at varied throttle settings upto 4500rpm or at 3/4 throttle, and at full throttle forapprox 1 min out of every 10 mins. For the next 8 hrs avoid continous operation at full throttle for more than 5 mins at a time.
I must admit i have only took it upto 4000rpm at the moment very slowly through the revs and at 4000 revs it was doing 22kts.
I have heard that once they are run in, i.e 20 hours you can expect it to loosen up and give you an extra 750revs. For this reason i'm not going to worry about propping it until it is about 20hrs and then i'll do the numbers.
Reelbargains. The cooker stand will sit between the two side seat bits and have a small camping stove with the tea, coffee and sugar tubs glued to it. Then a section cut out to place the milk in and at the front a bracket that sits the mugs for secure transport and pouring. Probably easier for me to post a photo when it's done.
