hi olly dont buy a cheap brush if you want a good finish use hamilton perfection brushes, you could use a 4 inch foam roller to do big areas but roll it on and lay it off with the brush,ie roll a small section and go over with the brush to remove the egshell effect.also try and keep a wet edge. stick youre brushaes in a bit of warm water and spin them between youre hands, this will remove the loose hairs! hope this helps mate ;D

i toplac'ed my boat m8 its top stuff, and will give a near sprayed on finish. on mine i 50/50 with under coat , rubbed it down and then went at it with neat paint. after 2 day i rubbed it down with a scouring pad and gave it one last coat. it stays quite soft for a couple of weeks so be carful, but its hard as nails after a month.

monkeynuts what brush and rollers did you use? i did the same 50/50 to get the base colour im going to give it a few days now to harden off now befor flating off im haveing a bit of a pain tipping the paint off.iv tried 2 brushes and a foam pad but the paint is dryin so quick i can only put a bout a ft square on be for it starts to go off
the pad is crap so i binned it and i think i might be useing too smaller brush whats a good size brush to use? olly

i used a small 4" foam roller and a 2" brush(a used top quality one from 1 of our painters) then brushed out the bubbles as i went, you dont need to be too finicky as the brush marks will disapear in a minute or two. the under coat will dry faster than the top coat so dont panic when you come to the top coats.
