you rarely fail with a black worm with red tail for pollack. they will take any shads really, just keep chopping and changing. try to get everyone on the boat using different shads/jellys to start off with, a couple on shads, a couple on jellys... different colours ect. i have found the sidewinders have been doing well for pollack and cod too.
remember, its all about getting your gear to where the fish are! thats where teamwork plays a big part so keep talking and asking how they caught that last fish... how many turns up, how fast they were winding ect.... as a group, you should build up an idea of how and where the fish are feeding resulting in more fish in the boat! well thats what we tell our punters to do anyway! seems to work though!

Orange coloured shads will work fine for pollack....
If you are on a mark that holds both pollack and cod & you want to catch both then, just rig the shad on a 10ft or so trace and wind up/down 20 or so turns....
To target the cod just rig on a 3ft 'hopper' rig and bounce on the bottom as most of the cod are hard on the bottom....you still pick up the odd pollack like this....

u dont need a long trace for pollock 2 arms spands is more than enough. pollock will take and colour shads or jellies. ive had loads of pollock on twin tails intended for cod this year. its more important you get the right speed when retrieving. nice steady pace.
ive had most of my best pollock trips this year on blue storm shads which bass love aswell

can you eat pollock? and are they easy to catch and also do you have to get to a mark where they are or are they just about here and there?

2 arm spans is usually about 10ft.... of course everyone is different. 2 arm spans in my case is 11ft ;D vary the speed of your retrive to match the current state of tide.

yes you can eat pollack, you can eat anything you catch if you really want.. they can be easy to catch i spose, try spinning from some rocks. and they do show up all over the place.
either that or get yourself on a wrecking trip!
