Now that would be telling! I`ll let you know on sunday morning. Only joking mate, Lug and squid is all that I will be using, unless the whiting are there in plague numbers when I will be reverting to the good old fashioned live bait rig!

I agree. I had my frist cod last month on a whole squid, my lug were getting hammered by the pout before a cod cud get there. Cocktail can work really well from what ive heard.

thanks for the tips wheres the best place to get live bait from as i live in berkshire don't know where to get it from. Catch it there mate, just tie a small hook to the hook that you want to catch your cod on, (like a hair rig in freshwater fishing) Put a worm on the small hook bang it out to catch a Whiting/Pout which then becomes the bait

If you need ragworm/Squid and may have a chance that they have lug then try Mannings tackle shop which you will pass it on the corner as you turn left into Southwood Rd which is 2 mins from where we will be fishing

They didn't tell you rigs did they mate - I always use a two hook clipped down rig with 2/0 or 3/0 hooks. My last cod here took a single lug actually and quite close in although it was after dark so don't assume that they are necessarily 100 yds out or more.

Make sure you dont tie the bait hook to the bend of the main hook. It will slide and mask the main cod hook
