Killing Dogs !!

I would really like other members thoughts on this one.

I went fishing last night, bloody mad I know , and caught nothing but Hypothermia.

Thing is the chap who was fishing near me caught 3 dogfish.

Each one he smacked on the ground to kill it and threw it back, with the usual 'Fxxxxxx Doggies' swearing.

Must be said I had a go at him after no 3.

The way I look at is this.

I know doggies are a pain but at least you are catching something and you still get that buzz when you get a bite.

Fish stocks have been decimated, so let's try to save what we have left

Killing anything then just dumping it is , to me wrong and bloody stupid.

There is enough dumping unwanted fish by the commercial trawlers, how can we slag them off if we are doing the same?

The guys answer to my 'polite inquiry' to why he was doing this was they were 'a fxxxxxx nuisance' and 'no good for anything'.

I know a lot of the charter boats used to do the same , I hope they don't now.

So what do you lot think??

Was the guy right to kill them off ?

Dont agree with killing fish coz they are a F*cking Nuisance! if we all did that pretty soon we would have nothing to catch! This guy is an Botty who gives every angler a bad name. I agree at times certain fish can be pretty frustrating especially when you are targeting a particular species, but heh come on, you are feeding the fish a bait with a hook in it! just take em off and put em back eh? thats what i would do. BTW well done for letting him know what you thought of him, many people just ignore it!

I understand, however its these supposed "Anglers" that give us a bad name... in fact myself and a friend were discussing this exact same subject at Chesil the other week when we were walking back along the shingle and saw a "Doggie" up on the shingle that someone had just tossed there!

Bloody dog fish are crap eating.

I would rather have 'Rock Salmon' every time!!! They are really nice with chips and peas.

Trouble is I wasn't sure what the idiot was doing till the last one.

I have no doubt that some will say I should have minded my own business.

Totally agree with you OF, killing any creature for no reason is an insult to nature and we simply don't know what might be the end result. Young dogfish could be food for something else for all we know; I get angry about the unnecessary killing of hundreds of mackerel in the summer for the same reason.

Sounds like he needed chucking in the sea, like was said earlier, we will be branded the same as commercial fishermen, just killing and dunping what they dont want to keep

Well done for challenging this "angler" TOF. Individuals like that should always be held to account. Since you know him he might think better in future - maybe.

Personally, I would rather catch a few doggies than blank, and would only kill one if they were for the pot.

Well done for saying what you thought to him but this just goes to show what nasty narrow minded individuals some people are to think they have the right to do this and then have the cheek to think they are doing us all a favor
