Owing to the bloody awful weather , and the fact that my boat has been returned to a hedonist resort for snails, time hangs heavy on these summer evenings when we should be out catching a few.

What a crap year, even the garden gave up and died.

Still Nipper calls me in and says 'Watch this Dad, it's about some bloke catching huge fish in rivers round the world.'

Apparently he recorded the series to watch in the winter!!

Well,, I don't like to slag anyone off... But that guy recons he is an angler.?

Never seen anyone so bad.

And he is hosting a fishing program on TV?

He panics when he gets a bite.. Strikes hard enough the pull the bloody head off the fish.. Jerks the rod and line all the way in .. Then treats the fish bloody awful before he throws them back,, if they survive..

Also the ones I watched , he used tripple hooks, and Hyped the whole thing up beyond belief.

You might be in trouble if you was on yer own and stuck up the 'Jordan' ,a place that many a good man has come to grief.

But that is further North, not far away from Port Said, where you would be guaranteed to catch something.

Still ,, I recons that as an advertisement for fishing,, and remember that a lot of people will think he knows what he is doing because he is on television,, he ain't good.

In fact I think he is a total ..................................

and extremely girly when he catches a fish

Then theres John"Giggler"Wilson another Prima donna,talks to the Charter Boat skippers and their crew as if they dont know their jobs ..........

Theres a French Canadian called Cyril someone or other thats good to watch because he is barking and just Lives for his Fishing,I used to Love watching Rex Hunt as well but since he had a bit of trouble keeping his rompers up he seems to have vanished from the public eye

The reason he panics when he gets a bite is due to the fact the species of fish he targets has killed someone and probably doesnt fancy ending up the same way! How does he treat them 'awful'? Ive never seen him use a gaff and considering the size of the teeth on the buggers, I dont blame him for not getting overly intimate with them. In all the series ive seen only one fish bought the farm.

Camera teams arent to my knowledge medically trained, if it goes tits up what are they going to do? if youre 1000 miles from the nearest hospital 100 camera men wont help you if you get a poisonous bite? Wouldnt fancy it myself but I suppose im just being a tart!
I actually think hes pretty good, just my opinion though. Robson Green? Now there is an incompetant t**t.

actually i would change places with Gilby or Wilson or Young or that Cyril AND EVEN JEREMY WADE AND ROBSON GREEN .......why well because i have to work in a print factory to earn a living they dont and whats more they catch more fish than me ....an angler i wouldnt change places with the old fart i just couldnt stand catching so few ..

think my last two trips would have been more entertaining,funny,dramatic, educational,and more watchable than the whole lot put together.

remind me to take dvd recorder next time,(waterproof and floats)

only joking ,seriously though they are filmed for entertainment value as well as for the angling fraternity,

no doubt most of us have had the pleasure of fishing with a few big ego-s but im sure the majority of us would swap places with any of these guys and be just as irritating ,

Well I would for one!!!

But a camera team, even if not paramedics, will have back up and can get him air lifted damn quick.

You ever see Top Gear when James May got clouted on the head in the middle of the desert? He was medi-vaced damn quick.

But he does panic when he gets a fish on,(not James Mat the other one)

Good entertainment I am not denying, and I like watching fishing on the TV , but as an example to young anglers,,, sorry he's crap

But he does catch some big fish, even if he does have to use treble hooks.

Bring back the 'Fishing Race' I say, for the Golden Maggot Trophy.

Real entertainment. Anyone remember the two school teachers who were in it? Classic !!
