Hi BK, if it was kept for food or for stuffing and mounting as a specimen fish then fair play.
If a wonderfull fish like that was simply killed for the kudos of claiming a local record and then chucked away it is a disgrace and will do nothing for fishing on the Isle of Wight.
No right minded sports angler wants to see a specimen like that treated in that way and it shows a neanderthal attitude that will discourage others.
We had one off the island at 56.5lb, much bigger than this one and took great delight in seeing it swim off strongly after pictures and weighing.
There is absolutely no reason in this day and age to parade a corpse around when digital photgraphy and mobile communication are the norm.

With you there Snowy - I was going to keep schtum as I do cop a bit of flak for my opinions but it does leave a very bad taste.Theres a picture of a lad I know in E.Cowes Tackle Shop with a Stinger that was at least 60lbs,probably more which he had down Burnt Wood two years back - photographed and returned!
