I don't fish many matches, but will support any cause against dry rot.

So I will put myself forward for the event, tenner to a good cause even if I don't make it, and also will put a bottle of single malt scotch up for a raffle prize if appropriate.

Well done old fart, on many fronts.

loving the fact , at 45 I qualify as a nipper, and I do love a long chuck, so can't be old yet

great idea best thing to do is make sure it doesn't clash with any comps. i can get a few to fish. but hey were be in the nipper category lol

What we need on this one is for every bugger to pull together.

I hope the IOW tackle shops will sell tickets.

I will get in touch with the IOW County Press for some publicity.


What you recon 6pm to midnight?

I thought we could have a sweep of £2 a head for the best specimen, but to stop any bugger cheating on that , the species of the best specimen will be drawn by the judges at the weigh in .

It could be best Wrasse, Conger, Pout etc. If no one catches one of the fish that is drawn out first it goes to the next species drawn out of the hat and so on.

There will be a prize table from what we can scrounge up , but should anyone not wish to collect their prize it will go to auction after the comp.

I really need some feedback ,ideas and help on this one.

Best dates and weigh in venue would help.

Anyone from the North Island (England) who can help arrange something would be appreciated.

The IOW County Press will give us a story to get publicity if it is going to happen.

Mrs Oldfart will be harassing businesses and pubs etc for prizes for the table

But like I said I could do with some feedback and ideas.

Trouble is I think the young nippers will bottle it, cos they know they will get their asses kicked

im going to talk to my boss tomorrow, see if he will donate something to the prize table, or if he gives money il go out and buy a rod or reel depending on what he gives, if enough il get rod or reel and if any left can go towards sophies kitty.

Great idea, spoke to the anglers at work and most are up for it, there is a mix of nippers and old uns to to keep a balance and give you old timers a chance!! (I'm in the nipper catogory). Keep us posted on date and time. One suggestion was Friday October 12th, 13th has at least one comp on. Rover or fixed venue??

if we do a fixed venue, it has to be an easy access place for the old uns lol. not only for that but has to be a big place because im sure there is going to be alot of people fishing, well hope so. if it does go to fixed what about brook? if we do the 12th october could be a good tide for it, fishing the run up then down. just hope the great weed stays away. alot to organize for 3 weeks though. think it can be done???

Many a true word spoken in jest.

Most of us Old Farts are in bed early during the winter months, mainly because years of experience , has taught us what is expected of us in bed.

Normally two weeks notice, a course of vitamin tablets and three Viagra.

Still we are prepared to give up our Saturday night of Coco and debauchery, to teach the up and coming pretenders how fishing should be done. Regrettable , as in life , experience always wins.

But you Nippers are welcome to have a go at your Superiors

And like in 'Rocky,,' the challenger will get their ass whipped. (Metaphorical speaking )

I have had a lot of personal e-mails on this and it has been agreed that , TOF team will not gloat or mention it again after our win.

Shooting fish in a Barrel was mentioned.

Now The Comp


The moon and tide is best on the 12.Oct but that is cutting it too fine for sorting it out .

So Sat 19 is neaps, 26 is Springs with a moon

I thought 2 pm till 9 pm . under 16 free but still count as nippers team

That way us old farts can be back 'Tucked in the lee of Bum Island' by midnight; (and with a bit of luck get round the weather side ),,

And not too late for you young Nippers, to entertain the 'Five Fingered Widow ' before bed time .

What I need is outlets for tickets ( tackle shops please note!), and a weigh in venue

As I said I need help on this , I am in the West Wight, any one want to help from the other end please let me know.

Joking apart,, I cannot imagine what Sophie's family are going through , and I will do what I can to help.

Right ,,, Have just spoken to 'Kissypuppy' (Sophie's fund raisers) and it is all go.

So sorry Nippers but it is ASS KICKING TIME !!!

Hopefully the Saturday 19 the should avoid all comps as it is neap tides.

Unless someone can let me know there is a problem with this date I will go for it then.

Apart from raising a few bob for Sophie , I am REALLY looking forward to having you Nippers put in your place and WINNING the BRAGGING rights for the year

all good that everyone pulling together. the date youve picked mate aint a saturday, if its october the 19th thats a friday and november is a monday. the 13th or the 20th october theres no comps, gives us time to get all the prizes that people have promised.
venue then? are we going to do fixed or a rover? if fixed have to be pegged aswell to make it fair. think brook is favourites unless anyone else has a place in mind.
