I would just like to add a point on location of your batt's being in the front of the boat as lead acid dont like a pounding in a planing hull and could end in power failure. Andy I emailed 3 battery manufacturers & what you described seems to be a problem of the past. Apparently the older type of unsealed lead acid batteries were prone to gassing & spillage which could lead to failure but the recent marine & leisure batteries overcome the problem. Handy to know ! This is the trouble when positioning batteries in the cabin - you either store them both on one side which gives un-even distribution of weight or have one either side which means additional cable runs. The furthest point forward is ideal for the weight issue but then their at the slammy end of a planeing boat. I think providing their bolted down well & your battery choice is'nt skimped your ok!
