Colby, that spool is very unbalanced. Notice the way it moves like a baby's cradle before it stops? It's also noisy

apparently the bearings are suppost to make that noise which somone told me when i was taking it in as you will notice on any of the youtube videos of reels being turned over like this one will make that noise youtube.com/watch?v=xUtCtrVJ7hk&feature=related

?? i dunno Wat AR on about the reel is silent when i cast it and it isn't unbalanced Yes it is unbalanced!! Unless that weird shite green/yellow tape is throwing it off. Have you considered normal electrical tape?

Colby, if I could be bothered to cut the shockleader off my mag elites and 525 mags I would do the same and show you what it should be like. Unless you've changed the bearings, the mag elites were always stainless steel (not ceramics) and should be silent if the spool is balanced. If you are really serious about casting you need to sort that spool balance out though. I have to agree with codlingchaser - I would never run reels that fast for fishing. If it works for you with no overruns then fair enough but it looks very hairy

Heh, them tourney reels are a different breed completely. If you've not noticed any problems fishing with it Colby, then don't fret about it. My 525 went way out of balance caused by a foobar'd bearing, it screamed like a pig. A tenners worth of bearings sorted that.

colby if it doesn't rock back and forth when the tape is on right you have nothing to worry about. Just don't be foolish enough to think you need a tournament tuned reel for fishing ;D

don't make the mistake of thinking your reel should run 'tourney' style,t casting and fishing are 2 different discipline's within 1 sport....a bit like the 100 metres and 1500 metres,a 1500 runner don't mean he'll be great at 100 because he can go longer and vice-versa ;D
with reference to that you-tube vid...i wish my cast's ran that long sometimes...lol
