Ive set up a Penn 525 GS with 20lb Powerpro for off the asss downtiding..... a Penn 535 GS with 30lb Powerpro for uptiding and some heavier bottom fishing. I havn,t handled the 545/555 GS versions, but wanted to know if these would be ok balanced on a 30lb class outfit filled with 50lb braid for heavy bottom work. or if the Penn 112H model is better suited . cheers Gazza

hi gaz
just my opion but stay light and enjoy your catchs
id save ya cash and put it towards a good rod or some end gear unless you plan to go fishing for big sharks or conger regulary.
i think its bit over kill for what you plan to do
i think your 535 will be ideal for wrecking on the drift, the odd bit of conger bashing and any general ground fishing. the 525 my be better suited to uptiding and lighter work on general ground
i nearly never use my 50lb outfit anymore, its just sat there wiating for a shark to bite a pollock or cod in half over the wrecks and then it springs to life . total use in last 5 years = half doozen times, total sharks hooked = 2 ,total landed = 0......work in progress....lol
cheers john
