I would be a member if i was in your location, i dont bother over here as the comps are either clicky/badly fixed/wrong tides/full moons/ early weigh ins (my worst hate)/ect....nice work!

Richard , what a truely written statement , for me i had no buddys who were interested in fishing so i searched the worlds wide web for other anglers as mad as me , and hooked up with a few , and it all started from there , we all have kids that are intrested in fishing , or p*****g about on the shore line , but hey its great !! ,

Personaly i think clubs are a good thing ,i joined the hastings and st leonards club in 1969 at the age of 9. I learnt a great deal from the senior anglers of that time ,most of whom are no longer with us. Through the club i have met many lifelong friends and i hope that we are passing on our knowledge to todays young anglers. at present we have around 250 angling members and 500 social members. only angling members are allowed to serve on the committee and vote at the agm. We have a high number of social members to keep the costs down for the anglers. we run a number of beach and boat comps throughout the year with prizes subsidised from club funds and employ a full time boatman to look after our boat compound. There are about 50 private boats that bay a fee of £5 per foot per year and 6 club boats which are for use of members free of charge. over the past 15 years i have been activley invoved in the running of the club in various capacities including commodore, treasurer and now have the honour of being vice president. It has been 37 years that i would not change for the world.

Merry christmas anglers , i would just like to say that stevieboy , posted a great thread , on angling clubs , and what you thought of them ,as this is a real issue that needs to be addressed , angling clubs offer a lot of tuition , knoweledge , and as many have said friendship , its not all about competing against your next pegged rival , or hiding tricks and tips on the chosen venue , but sharing and gaining knowledge on our great sport , it is a match so every body is out to outdo each other , in a friendly manner , thats the way i see it as a great working fishing club , and if it ever changes ill be off !!!!!! back to doing what i love best ................ FISHING !!!!!!!!

Approach any club with caution, would be my advice. Ive watched genuine blokes get ousted just because their face didnt fit. The club that Cuckoo is involved in sounds great ( hats off to you!) but the problems come with lots of members and a decade or so of click forming. I know it sounds synical but this is my experience in over 30yrs & 3 clubs, the only members I know to remain members are those who dont get involved in the clubs politics but then the nod and smile approach will rarely contribute to any great future club.

Well guys , if any of you anglers wishes to find out about our little club , then pop down to our first real club match , where points mean prizes lol !!!!, the venue is hurst castle , sunday 7th january , sign in at 9.30 am and fish from 10 am till 4 pm ....., you are all more than welcome to attend , we do not need or want any more members , as said in a previous post 35 being the limit , but come along anyway for a chat , or join in for a small match fee , the pools are not big , but this will weed out any hard core match anglers who are only in it for the bucks ................... hope to see a few of you on 1 of our matches , all the best ,
lee.
