Slippery, what periods do you rate? there are several differing theories.
Do you go for the -
The daily 4 factors of sun rise, sun set, moon rise & moon set. aswell as the monthly new & full moons.
Fishing the daily 4 rise & set times on the new & full moon days & the days immediately after within the month are firm favourites.

I know what you mean Pete, imagine getting all the 36 variables that determine a potential blockbuster of a session spot on perfect- and then a dog walker goes straight through between yer rod and the sea, passing by with a cheery " had any luck mate". I'd push him in !!!!!!!!!

Yeh, had a session like that but not with human disturbance. One of the highest tides in recent years fell bang at midnight on the same date that I lost a big double figure bass two years previous to the very day!
I turned up at the mark, no other angler in sight but unfortunately the resident seal was! it bobbed up right in front of me just as I tip-toed down the shingle, Im sure it smiled at me!!!!!

has anyone read alan yates on night fishing this month,he is a great angler and we have seen him catch fish when no one else does. he has said a full moon is no good for fishing at all and this is a man who fishes for england and his living.i am being swayed towards the moonphase but i put this in because it was topical at the moment.

Me and Adam (reelbargains) were chatting over messanger for ages last night about moonphases. Theres alot to talk about! its quite involved & theres several different theories.
My advice would be carry on fishing as you would but keep records especially exact catch times then compare them to daily moon rise & set times & the intermediate periods approximately 12.5hrs between the rise & set times but especially new & full moon days within a month.
Forum members have sent me pm's about how moonphase effect catches specifically to their local marks rather than disclose it to all - their must be something in it!
When I have some time I'll post some links to sites that configure your local co-ordinates to give you a daily moontime table for your area.

It does have an advantage in that it can be darker (generally is darker - no moon) and therefore gives fish more confidence perhaps. Perhaps this is what Mr Yates means - he 'prefers' new moon?
