don't know about reel down bit, most if not all rods are capable of reel up/down,i've always used it reel up with no probs, shoulder has damaged nerve which too much swinging and flinging tends to agrevate it,so decided to go back to f/s rods except for my viper/7ht mag which i will be keeping,it's an easy rod to use being a match rod, besides my casting is crap anyhow, should really get some lesson or two,but i don't cast any further with the multi set up than i do with the sidewinder f/s i have ;D
taken from neils page Easy to handle, ready to launch The Sidewinder has already carved out a place on the beach with more and more anglers discovering it's easy action is ideal for all-round beach fishing. When the need arose to put a baited trace a long way it excelled, but would also lob a fish finder without complaint. Easy to handle and ever ready to launch a bait, casting with the Sidewinder is always a pleasure, and remains so with the Evo 1. The all new 13ft 6in Sidewinder Evo 1 has a lightweight, 23mm diameter butt section offering excellent reel grip for high or low reel. The progressive tip has a firm, through action that interacts perfectly with the hi-tech, lightweight butt section to offer performance without pain. Neil used the original Sidewinder all over the world in a wide range of applications from casting baseballs for home runs to power casting 10oz and bait from the shores of Hatteras Island in North Carolina. For Neil to make the Evo 1 a better rod it had to be something very, very special. And it is!
