Estuaries are best, or beaches with lots of mud and clay. They do have very small holes at the end of their burrows but no easy to see, best advice is just to dig where there is a bit of mixed shingle and shells etc in the mud.

I find if you dig in and around shingle / rocks or even muscle beds you will find rag. when walking around if you see loads of holes by your feet that squirt a little water then you can usualy fing rag. the easy way i do is copy the way sea gulls pat the ground with there feet and this in turn shows up the breathing holes better. rule of thumb for me is dig in in hard ground and dig deep about one and a half fork lenghts.

remember never never take the bright green rag worms as these are spawning and we need to conserve our bait stocks too.

Very good little video, he has said it all, top end of Langstone and Chichester Harbours have some good spots if you live in Hampshire or West Sussex. If you want to do lug instead, look for the two sorts of worm casts: Untidy heap with a hole or depression nearby = blowlug, dig between the cast and the hole. Perfect spiral cast and no nearby hole = blacklug, dig straight down around 40/60 cms. These babies are magic and I can never find enough of them.
