Hello all, What test braid is everyone using for spinning with braid? I want to give it another chance this summer equiped with the proper reverse coned spool. I was just looking through a mail order companies site & they were talking about spinning with 50lb test braid which has the equivalent diametre as 18lb mono. I appreciate the low braid diametres but still would have gone alot lighter than that. Whats everyone using? Cheers Pete

50 lb test does seem a bit OTT. I've just loaded some 18 lb braid onto my bait runners for bass / general purpose / spinning.

i use 10lb mono on 1 reel and 50lb braid on the other , main resone i use ott braid is i generaly spin very close to structures and other dodgy features which can chaff though braid very quickly, especially when a bass does one of those runs for cover mono is a bit more resitant to abrasion

One thing i found about casting braid is always keep the line tight on the spool when taking in slack by reeling it in through your fingers. Many a time i have casted out and watched a heap of braid go through the rod eyes because it wasn't tightly packed enough.........and we all know what braid is like to untangle!!!!

Hi Pete, I've just gone for some 20lb Berkley FireWire. You can get 300 yards for around £25. I'm champing at the the bit to get out there with the spinning gear. Another few weeks and it may be worth a dabble. I might even have a practice at my local harbour as it's chock full of schoolies at all times of the year.
All the best,
Steve.
