I have used coloured lines for a long time, I use a bright green shockleader and sometimes make my rig bodies from the same shockleader and snoods from black amnesia, I can honestly say I have seen no difference in what I catch now from a while ago when my end tackle was all crystal clear. I don`t think sea fish are worried about a bit of line, If you think of the amount of rubbish that washes up on the beach and what must be flopping around on the sea bed which actually atracts fish because of the small foodstuffs that it traps, I can`t see them worrying about that bit of sky blue pink line near that tasty morsel. Mind you! I could be wrong, its one of those things thats down to personal observation.

Although i wouldn't personally buy neon pink line, i wouldnt have a problem using it if thats all i had.

imo i cannot see any logic in using coloured lines.you creep up stay quiet spend &250 on a decent rod and reel then cast out a line that looks like its come from a 70s disco.ask a carp angler to use pink or bright coloured lines and they would think you were having a laugh.how do you know it does not affect your catches when the fish could be spooked long befor they get to the bait.clear line everytime for me if we cant see it knor can the fish.

Hi meoc4life, I think that fish on the whole are very inquisitive, we put coloured beads & blades on the line to catch flatties, I'v used all types of coloured lines over the years, and found no differance in my catches, scent I believe is the main factor.
Tight lines

I think there is a good reason why sea fish dont worry about line colour. Because generally they never get caught. If you target carp, you are catching fish that may have been caught 5, 10 or 100 times. Of course there gonna flee from a visible line, but sea fish probably only ever get caught once. If its a good edible fish, its eaten, if its a tiddler the chances are it will be back in deep water fattening up, or dead when its thrown back or killed via a net before too much time goes by. Meaning sea fish dont get the chance to learn about line danger. The first time their hooked, is probably the only or last time they will see mono.

You will never know for certain wether coloured lines make a difference or not, but if you are using coloured line you know witch one not to cut if you get in a tangle.

Always use hi-vis yellow line and caught loads last year. Why? - 1. Nearly always fish with buddy and when we get a tangle occasionally it's a lot easier to sort out. 2. Birds spot a coloured line a lot easier and stay away. 3. I can see where my line is a lot easier (at my age). 4. When I caught a 3lb bass last saturday I asked him if he saw the line - "No mate just saw a bunch of slipper limpet and went for it, had no idea that the yellow stuff was going to give me a problem." .........

man after your own heart mate.have used maxima for years in freshwater fishing, the barbel/chub and carp never seemed to mind it. Its resilient as old shoe leather..........however,that said ive been using Sunset/Amnesia in clear for all clear water conditions, seems to knot well, nice limp line that doesnt suffer from abrasion to much. Everybody will have their own fav though..... Gary

Might stick to maxima chameleon for my hooklengths for sea fishing as its the same colour as the water of the north east coast of scotland

What we need now is an invisible hook, swivel, weight and a bit more time to try them out.
