Need ya help fellers..!!! As a "Freshy"ive been more than happy to use 12ft heavy feeder rods for numurous tasks.70/80 yard chucks have been ample. So..........i read all the articles....and the sandstorm was given a good all round revue. I use the 12ft version with a Daiwa Emcast Advanced 5000 reel F/S (15lb red ice)...4/5 oz on a 3 hook flapper rig....i can only do a over the shoulder lob at the moment, but still can only average 60/70 yds max. I just cant seem to be able to compress the rod to generate any more speed /distance. Is it the rod..? is it me..? Should i just make do..? Or would a longer rod be more suiatable to a "Lobber" like me. Its a beautiful rod and im gutted i cant seem to get the best of it. any suggestions...or equipment change recommendations would be really helpfull if im to get summit outa this side of the sport................Cheers Fellers Gary

casting lessons that's all i can say, the sand storm is a good rod and will launch a bait into the distance. try of the ground put the lead at your feet to really compress the rod from the start, or straight out if you want something a bit easier to start with. hope this helps not that i know what I'm doing any way lol.

Try using a clipped rig instead of a flapper, it will give you a little more distance and less drag in the air

looks like ill be doing a OTG cast with a clipped down rig holding 6oz of lead on it...........lol no seriously thanks for your suggestions.. you dunno how frustrating it is to have wot you hope is a good balanced set up.and cast a girls distance.. might have to make changes ..ie ..get rid and start over with something a bit softer/longer more suited to a "Lobby" Cheers anyway Gary
