Yes it was nuts........the man on the scales thumbed through a little book and yawned...."the ray wins it". The guy with the doggie was gutted ;D
My mate could make a computer random generator that would pick a specimen, then each team could pick a venue best suited for the picked fish from there if the draw was a week in advance. Obviously the fish put into the generator would be within reason ;D. Eg....no cod ;D ;D ;D ;D

Ok , pout and whiting and such like fish , automatic 2 ounses ,so you can release them without much distress , all other fish weighed photographed and released , biggest weight of the night caught by any team wins , and i do agree we must have a best specimen fish of the night award !!!, this does not need to be complicated , as we are all in it for fun !!!!!! , lets have some !!!!!

this is a good concept and i am sure a comp from the 2 furthest points of our members using all the beach in between could be a record in itself.taking the roving match to a new extreme. can i offer mick the job of walking along the beach and doing a weigh in an 8000 mile walk will do him good.he could start in may and finish in september. on a more serious side points sound ok,1 point for all the little ones, rockling, pout, whiting, etc. 2 point for doggie, flattie, schoolie bass.3 point for the nice fish, sole, ray, bass, cod(for us in kent).all for fun anyway how many points for a blank.

will pout and dogfish be banned from this comp?? I think bag weights are really unchallenging and would love to see a specimen comp, its not hard to catch a bag of dogfish/pout is it??

I know it's each to thier own and all that, but I'd have no interest in fishing in a pout/doggie comp. I think the specimen idea works best.

could make it a roving pairs so everyone can fish there own venue (people can still fish in teams) would keep travel down and attract more members? nothing under a 1lb counts would be good too!

Yes, Slippery and Steve's comments appeal to me. More challenging, but much more interesting.
