This is the bit that got me:
"Defra will confirm in due course whether and on what date legislation will come into force once the evidence has been evaluated."

Classic case of "He who shouts the loudest, makes the rules".
People tend to shout louder if money is involved too...Pathetic.

what a total These guys are all for the commercials, but it's only because the shore anglers (and small boats) do not (cannot) speak in one voice. Though there are many organisations out there trying to become a public face for the angler, people won;t join - why

The problem is, lads that the commercials have to get what they want or they stamp thier feet and spit thier dummies, then start a media campeign where they rake in as much public sympathy as poss, So DEFRA are frightened of setting them off. The way I see it is for the recreational side to start a public campeign to make the unknowing public realise that its these same pity seeking commercials that are the reason why theres no fish to catch in the first place. You can`t have your cake & eat it, and you can`t keep taking fish out of the pot and still expect there to be more all the time. I think its about time the truth of the travesty in our waters was shown publically to all so that people have both sides of the story when the commercials get on thier "pity me" trip. Maybe then they wouldn`t get away with crying hard "done to" all the time. Read this months Total Sea Fishing, theres a good mention of some of our council tax going the commercials way aswell, So we are actually paying them to rape our seas.

I was reading some old sea angler's, 1975, and anglers then were moaning about trawlers coming to to close inshore and even one was fined £500 but they still do it. So as you can see nothing as been done for 31 years.

I agree mican, its about time we started stamping our feet, the time and effort put in by the people who try to represent us, its also about time we realy got behind them, even if it means we all have to put a few quid in, a organisation wether it be the nfsa or the sacn we must have a united voice if we are to get anywhere, it will be to late when there gone, we have a chance if we do something about it now, i dont no we could start a campagne, if we had a fund, make the public aware of what is going on, even one of hits, of a page, in one of the national papers, voicing our concerns and raising public awareness of what is happening to our seas and the remaining stocks within, i for one would love to see a full page spread in one of the national papers, this costs money, we all love our fishing, i would be quite happy to put some money inthe kitty, and get the ball rolling, do nothing, and we are on a downhill slide, and so are the stocks.
