Anchor tripping

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to trip a Danforth type anchor.

Do you have to modify the anchor so that it only opens one way, fix the chain to the bottom and tie rap the chain to the top of the main anchor arm ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes mate, thats exactly how you do it.

They can be tripped and should have a hole on the crown (base) of the anchor to attach the main chain and then as you state trip the chain to the top, as the anchor is lowered it will automatically fall into the corect position for anchoring, unless it gets twisted.
