Hi All, Any suggestions for decent spinning spots on the isle of wight. Not looking for anyones closey gaurded secrets, just general spots where spinning can be succesful. I've been told to try the mouth of bembridge harbour when the tyde is moving. Any ideas?

cheers davey, where abouts is horsehoe ledge in shanklin? Drive to the end of shanklin esplanade, park and walk along the beach towards bonchurch, make sure the tides ebbing, you'll come to 2 large reefs jutting out, fish them.

With the tide ebbing the fish will be Bonchurch side of the ledge's which are very rough rocky groung and massive kelp beds, you would have to use a surface lure and as the wind will normally be againt you it would have to be heavy to get any distance. Sandown side will be empty of fish except for the occasional Gar. When the tide turns you will be faced with great wads of Jap weed on the Sandown side close to the ledge which is where you want your lure. As you can tell I'm not a fan. Bottom fishing here has been covered on a previous thread.

I still think Yaverland is your best option in the bay. Half to low water and back anything silver and a bit heavy into the surf and wind.

If your spinning with feathers i reccomend strongly you go to blackgang beach (rocken end) i have not yet been there and not caught makerel, infact i usually land large amounts such as 30 and sums like that, but spinning with leuras popper ans anything liek that is still reccomended strongly there, as its such a rocky bottom, most people tend to spin there. have fun.
