hi might be a silly question is it ok to change the name of a boat is it unlucky or not

i was thinking the same myself my boat was only used in fresh water on the thames and is called carp quest,which gets a few funny looks when i lanch at herne bay ;D ;D ;D

Depends whether you are superstitious or not. I've changed the name of a couple of boats, with no ill effects, unless that's why I don't always catch fish!!!

It is OK as long as you have the original name still on the boat somwhere, like under a seat. Otherwise bad things might happen.

We lived on boat for a short time a few years ago. We wanted to change the name but we were "warned" not too by the old boys on the marina. I'm not supersticious but the wife is. We ended up just adding the new name as a type of "tag line" along side the old name.
I've also heard that painting a boat green is bad luck?
Doesn't mean anything to me, as said above it just depends how supersticious you are.

My boat name is - you guessed it - Sunny Girl. I was gonna call her Salty Nuts, but was advised about the superstition thing and whilst i trhink all such stuff is complete mumbo-jumbo I haven't re-named her !!!!!!

what rubbish, if ya wanna change it then change it. but its just nice to have a bit of originallity to it lol i not superstitious at all lol, but i wouldnt listen to me lol clare
