Hi everyone,
A bit of advice and your views would be appreciated. My brother has imported a very pretty looking Boston Whaler from America. It has a pretty big outboard motor Mercury I think.
I know nothing about boats and my question is would this type of boat be okay for use in the solent?
Thanks Graham

yes mate, you may need shares in bp if it has a large engine lol..... iv seen some that need morgages,ie 300hp super charged beasts(which is mental). but you only live once and thay are quality boats and give a great ride. thay will deal with the solent easy and alot more if you can afford it depending on size ,most are good for well over 40kn with smaller engines

Spoke to my Brother today and he tells me that it is a 17 Foot Montauk with a 70hp Mercury. It has a centre console, Bimini Top etc. He took for a potter up the Hamble today to check it all out. All I have to do now is persuade him out into the solent

My old boat is an American 17 foot Centre Consol Wahoo with a mariner 75 on the back...fast and okay on calm days round the Needles; but you have to be a little bit crazy to do it ;D

Geeeesh only I would not recognize my own brothers thread LOL.
Anyway Graham boat runs a treat, just fitting loading guides this weekend to the trailer to make launching and recovery easier.
Then we are good to go, just stock up on Kwells and you will be fine
