Hi all I will put my hands up to this one as mistake number *** When I got my boat the previous owner said "here is a number of spares." and I didn't check to see if they are correct for my particular engine. On one of the better days this summer, went out to try to catch some fish today but only just started to go out up the main channel in Poole harbour when the fan belt snapped. Tied up to the nearest mooring buoy to replace it as I knew I had one in the "spares kit". Only to discover that it was too long, found another belt and this too was wrong so had to get a tow back to the moorings and drive up to Halfords to get a replacement. Typically I did not bother to bring the auxiliary engine today either! So make sure sure all your spares are the right ones for your outfit! Another lesson learnt today and no fishing! Dave even got this in the wrong section!
