I've caught so many that I've started wondering what they taste like. Has anyone tried it?

some people like them. i have never tried it but will do one day. alot of peole make fishcakes with them as they are no good for filleting.
yeah they do stink clare but most fish do! if you ever whip the guts out of a decent bream, have a whif! probably the worst smelling guts of any fish! but one of the best tasting fish in the sea! that reminds me, i'v got one in the fridge for tonight!

minimum size 9" from the shore 10" from the boat. but you'd need one of over 1lb to get anything from it. alot of the charter fishing bunch keep big ones to flake up and chuck in fishcakes. i think thats about all they are good for. old Hugh FW does them in beer batter but you gotta be pretty good at fish prep to get a decent amount of boneless fillet for that.

Pout are actually not subject to any minimum size limits I don't think, those limits are NFSA advisory I believe.

The only fish I've ever tried and not liked was a shitty green eel about 3lb that my cousin caught from the creek down the road from my house about 10 years ago. It was awful...
