Clacton-on-sea Codding Trip

All week I was looking forward to going to Minehead but the weather forecast was too bad to chance the long drive.

Had noticed that there was a pocket of good weather on the east coast forecast for Sunday and our local forecast was grim.

Sunday morning was on the road for 5am arriving at the launch point around 7.30am to be met by Lozz.

There was virtually no wind and it was hard to believe it was approaching winter.

We were able to drive down to the slip and rig up before parking which was handy



Launched and paddled out about a mile and anchored up.Lozz was catching loads here albeit small stuff and I had a small Whiting.

We decided to paddle out a further half mile or so and anchored up again.

Wasn't long before I had a decent fish in the boat



caught loads of smaller ones like this


all of which were returned


Also caught one of 5 3/4lb


and another around the 4lb-5lb mark



first time I've fished the mark and It won't be the last.Ended up with ten Codling,two Doggies and a Whiting

Nice Coddies there Richi- I'm considering taking the plunge and buying a 'yak next year.

I must say how impressed I am with how organised you guys are...my boat is cluttered with kit and its 16 foot of rear deck space !

6 of our guys launched there today and had codling to 7lb,the place is fishing it's behind off
