The Predator is what I would describe as the next generation in small fast fishing boats. Like all things boats evolve over time and what you buy is governed largely by personal finance.
The Predator is a step up from the Alaska and Hogs but is a more modern boat with the advatages that brings. However the downside is that you can expect to pay more.
Once you start looking at the Predator it is another small step up to the Warrioirs and Endeavours and from there you start to look at the Raiders.
I would hasten to add that this is merely my opinion and others will have their views. I am also aware that I have missed out several other manufacturers but i am trying to keep it simple and restrict it to the more popular/common boats.

Chris,
I own a Warrior 165 with a 70HP Suzuki 4 stroke. This seems a good combination. We fish the Solent and further out without any problem. I probably overload it as I generally fish it with me and two (large) teenage boys, and loads of gear. We still get it up to 22Knts plus.
Have also taken four people (son, wife, mother and me) plus a dog accross to the IOW for lunch. Tends to get a bit claustrophobic with the in laws in such a confined space!
I would have thought you will have no problem towing a boat like this (or the Predator 165) and launching it on a good slipway.
You would probably have to pay about £4K more than the Alaska for a second hand Warrior. They seem to be advertised a c £10K ish on Boats and Outboards.
Hope this helps. Hugh

Hi Chris If you want to see what others think of their boats have a look at my web site. www.fishing-boats.infoI started with a Seahog Hunter with a 40hp outboard and went well and was economical, is only really a 2 man craft with 3 at a push. The Shortie version has a smaller cabin so would fish 3 more comfortably as more deck space. Would suggest you get out and try as many boats as you can before buying. see what each one feels like to you and do you feel safe in it. Don't forget to include all your safety gear in your budget. Hope you get the craft of your dreams  Dave :catch:

Thanks for the great advice guys. Will keep watching the market and try and get out in a few boats if I can. Will probably be looking at buying around about May/June.
