I was at a bit of a loss this weekend as to what to do,was thinking of an east coast trip with a couple of mates but "conditions" were not right and me and Tratty took up James's invite of a Sunday morning 9am Kimmeridge launch, had also toyed with the idea of launching at Lulworth and paddling down towards Kimmeridge----even drove up the Lulworth road a few hundred metres before thinking,,,,,,,no,I'll launch with the guys
Got to the car park at about 7.30am and Tratty was half rigged already
Around 8am Ian arrived then shortly after James, who proceeded to get his car stuck in and when Ian and I gave him a push out, repayed us by pebbledashing us with mud from his front tyre ::)b*strd :bash: then teacher turned up to jaunts of things similar to "good afternoon"
Trolleyed down to the slip around 9 as planned and the day was starting to look good
paddled out from the bay
Tratty first paddling backwards then one handed to givre the other guys a chance
and the guys began fishing
I decided to try further offshore ,paddled to a mark I,d seen about a mile off of Rope lake head.
Tide was a good 2.5kts :ahhh:
Dropped the anchor at 80 odd feet and let out 120M of rope, secured the rope and the wash was pouring over the back!!
Decided that anchoring from the front was my only option here, uncomfortable ,but I'd still be fishing :catch:
Had to use 16oz of lead which eased off to 10oz as the slack approached.Got to be some rays out here was my thinking
Sat there for at least an hour and a half with the tide decreasing,,,,,,,,,biteless
Still,it was nice sat there looking at St albins head in the distance thinking ,wonder what it's like
Yes I think you know the next part
Oh! by the way,it's horrible, you wouldn't like it
the guys had doggies and I blanked but what a day and I'll be going back for sure
