Had one of these come with my Conoflex Anubis, first time I clamped a reel on with it the plastic trigger bit snapped where it joins the metal thread. Then it seems that the actual metal itself is some cheap shite alloy that corrodes if you look at it funny, seized up after every trip unless you rinsed and oiled it. Daiwa/Century coasters don't need that much maintenance so I bought a pair of them instead. Combine all this with the fact it never sat straight, my reel still wobbled and the black plastic just wore away everytime I tightened it, it's a total piece of crap. Apparently they don't even get made anymore, I wonder why?

Yep, I had one too. The thread on the screw part corroded and no amount of WD40 would free it up. Even when I first got it you almost needed to break your fingers to get it tight enough in the first place.
A right crock.

I have 2 and I like them and consider them the best coaster i have ever used and i've used a few...
That said my Tallons are not left on the rods. I leave them attached to the reels and slide them off the butt of my rods. Once home they get a rince under the tap with the reels.
I only had mine since the begining of the year and they have only been used 30 odd times, so time will probably tell.

I suppose things will last longer if they are looked after but at the end of the day, the corrosion was just one problem of many that I had. Rinsing them off wouldn't have stopped the plastic snapping, the black coating wearing and the actual fact that it didn't hold my reel properly. Good luck with yours
