Paddled my Kayak out from near my house under the motorway bridge and out towards the channel that runs 3-400 yards off the back of whale island. Most of the paddle out my finder showed 5-6ft of water then on the edge of the channel it suddenly drops away to 33ft. I dropped the anchor here and set up some really light gear,a light spinning rod and a 5-10lb class boat rod. Both rods had a simple running ledger with 2oz of lead to trot in the tide. A couple of big rag and both rods were out. This was great as long as i dont fall in ;D Bites came straight away ,really fast and hard.I must have missed 60% of them but the ones i did connect with turned out to be shoal Bass between 1-2lb,great fun on the light gear. I ended up with 9 Bass and Rob got a monster Eel. A long paddle home and BED ;D I shall be out again soon, and i can thoroughly recomend Kayak fishing, its great but chilly

Chilly is an understatement - write note to ones-self - WEAR WARM clothing - really warm on the shore - bloody cold on the water as the evening set in ....
2nd note - great big eels are rather fun to catch and land on the K - result - dont try to land them
Great night out - roll on the summer ...

Start worrying when something else thinks the eel is the bait
