Caught my first Bream of the year on this day last year at the Ledge so I was fairly confident of success
Arrived at The Needles Eye Cafe at Milford-on-sea in darkness and rigged up ready for the days fishing.Took 3 rods out,two for the Bream and one for the possible Smoothy.etc.
By the time I'd got ready and launched the sun was rising over a flat sea,it looked like a great day for it
I haven't launched from Milford to paddle to this mark before,I'd always launched at Mudeford and although the distance to the mark was a mile and a half further at 5.5 miles,it was an easier paddle due to the planned assistance from the tide.Reached my chosen mark and found a pot bouy right on it no anchoring for me today :catch:
there were a couple of rather smart looking boats fishing close to me
first fish of the day was a Bull Huss
angry b*ggers aren't they
Sat there feeling good, never caught a Huss at the Ledge before only doggies, saw a big blue and white charter approaching
heard on the radio"wight rebel" what is that over there,Oh! one of those kayakers,bl**dy dangerous things! to which he was shouted"dangerous my a$$" followed by complete radio silence ;)then he sounded his horn and was given a friendly wave
cheeky old man has probably never even sat in a kayak before
wonder if I was on his chosen mark :win:
next up was the dreaded doggie
things were a bit slow, more boats had turned up by this stage ended up around 10 but not much was being caught.
I was getting no action on the Bream rods but the full Squid rod registered another bite, pulled it up to reveal a lovely looking crab
It was getting towards midday now and I unlashed from the bouy and began my paddle back with the last of the flood
all sorts of other craft out on the water having fun
I hope they had as much fun on the water this weekend as I did :sunny:
wonder if they did as many miles
:stoned:
