need some help with scales :confused: what do you use to weigh your fish. i have basic scales which i don't think are very accurate and im looking to buy a new set. Are digital scales any good. if so which is the best to get with out paying silly amounts of money. cheers for your help. lewis

Digital scales can be easier to read, but are generally not as accurate as a set of well-calibrated analogue scales.

Digital scales can be easier to read, but are generally not as accurate as a set of well-calibrated analogue scales. ive got a spring balance that wasnt dear but seems pretty accurate ,well stinga35 has i expect he pilfered it 4 his small fish, i did actually think digis were meant to be spot on but suppose u get wot u pay for? got to admit i dont actually worry to much about weighing fish unless ita a bass around the 10lb mark then i just gota know ;D fish of 9lb 14oz

i've got a set of Berkley digital scales and they are fine but the weigh in tenths of a pound which is just weird

may have to see if i can test mine to make sure they are accurate, or try and find a good set of digital ones that weigh in pounds

Are digital scales any good. if so which is the best to get with out paying silly amounts of money. cheers for your help. lewis Hi Lewis, best I have tried are the digital Berkley Lip Grip scales which weigh up to 30lb, in lb's & oz's and also in metric. The lip grip works well and doesn't damage the fish - especially good for rays. They work well afloat on a rough day as they use a strain gauge for measuring so there is no spring. They aren't cheap though which is their only problem. Of course, the worry with buying a decent set of scales is that they become an albatross and you never catch another decent fish, though you will be able to weigh everyone else's!! I hope this helps. i've got a set of Berkley digital scales and they are fine but the weigh in tenths of a pound which is just weird I had a set of those, you just take each decimal as 1.6oz, so 0.5 on your scales is 8oz. Weird i know but you get used to it.

i have a set of rapala digitals and a set of Reuben heaton little gems both good scales and always handy to have the Reuben's encase the battery's run out in my digitals

cheers guys i'll have to have a look about to see what i can find. maybe if i start catching decent size fish or get my boat sorted get a set of the ones greatwight/mick have sugested.

they look pretty good not a bad price either? have to see if there in hansfords in fareham ( seen a few on ceiling nera till) i got some vouchers for there, for my birthday if not may pop back on to e -bay once i've been paid. cheers bazza
