A light rod 12lb or less the 6500 willbe fine no problem at all.
Small hooks size 2, 4 or 6's
When you get a bite let out line for 10-15secs then wind in constant pressure. Good luck enjoy your trip mate.

Cheers Mike
Would that be with a 3 hook flapper with 4oz lead?

This works for me. Smallest lead you can touch bottom with, then bounce along with the tide until you get bites DO NOT STRIKE, wait until rod tip pulls down. If you get the bites but do not connect try dropping back half a metre and wait for the pull. I generally use 15 LB Amnesia for the trace

I use a one down two up paternoster, size 6 circle hooks.
But it is each to there own, i'm sure you'll find what works best for you. like just mentioned don't strike thats the key constant pressure.
