Had planned to drive up to Wales Saturday morning but couldn't sleep Friday(you know how it is guys )and set off at 0130 :DArrived just as day was breaking and had no problem sleeping then
It was a bit blowy on Saturday
By Saturday evening it was calming, looking good for the Sunday.
Met Hatter3 and Dave at the river and Tratty arrived soon after,we were all confident the next day was going to be Tope day.
Had a leisurely rig up Sunday, the wind had died,it was looking good
We were on the water for 9am exiting the river against the flood with no drama out onto a fairly flat sea.We decided on a hole about a mile or so away from the river mouth.
First fish to the yak was as always a bleedin doggie
Followed by numerous Huss
Good old Tratty was a right Huss magnet
After sitting there for a few hours I had my first Tope run of the day,it went round the anchor line and snagged my scratching rig too ::)it was bloody hard work but great fun especially when it caught sight of the yak went on another run and breached ;D
I hope you enjoy the video
Said to Tratty" I don't care if I catch no more or 100 more,I've got what I came for"
We were getting quite regular runs but the fish seemed to spit out the bait as soon as you put any pressure on,we even let them run a good 100 yards before putting on pressure with the same result.
After many hours of this Tratty eventually managed to get one hooked using a slightly different method
I think I was as relieved as Tratty was
AWESOME!!! 8-)Well deserved too
It was a happy paddle back with the successful Topers
my favourite pic of the weekend says it all
one very happy Extremekayakfisherman
