Hi all i was thinking of giving kayak fishing ago but want to spend as little as possible as i dont know if i will like it or not i was looking at £250 max something like a caper or a drifter any condition so long as it floats is there much chance of this or am i dreaming abit? Thanks.

If you can get something you like for that amount then go for it, but make sure you take it for a test first! I'd be surprised if you could get anything decent for that price anyway, and the other stuff like buoyancy aids, dry suit etc all adds up........
The problem (or not) is that yaks hold their value REALLY well. You usually find one for about £100 less than new for years to come.
Go on anglersafloat.co.uk for all your advice.
Besides you will love it anyway and probably want to get another afterwards! :catch:

Unfortunately mate - Chris is right - you gotta be prepared for the sea and don't skimp on gear - not worth the risk ... once you get the Yak - you can spend as much again on gear .... I dare not not add it all up BUT ... once you start - you wont stop ;D

dreaming loads fella pop round and see my setup then you will no what i meen iv been yakin 3 years now and its cost me over 2k to set up.you will need flares,pfd,anchor,rod holders,dry suit,anchor light,strobe light,compass, vhf radio,paddle,leashes,flag,bouy,trolly,nife,boots,.and thats not all but all that lot should be with you from your first trip.so that lot befor you get your kayak

Olly is right 2K seems more realistic ;)in my case,a lot more.My vhf radio and combined ff/gps with chip was over a grand :rtfm:
the proper clothing will cost as much as the yak too :bash:
it is not cheap to set up,some guys will spend the £250 you intend to spend on a yak on a carbon paddle :saint:

cheers for the replys i think il give yakkin a miss then as i dont want to spend that much on somthing il probaly only use about 10 times a year.
