I'm sure this has probably been covered before, but I'd really like to have a go at some lure fishing fro bass..... Has anyone got any good tips and venues for me please that are relatively local (I'm based in Winchester)... I purchased some Toby's and some Dexter wedges the other day and would now love to have a go. I'm not expecting anyone to give away their best spots but a few pointers would be great.... Many thanks Al

Nearest spot for you is probably Warsash - bass go up the Hamble River and I would try it from low water up. Probably best to try several places until you hit the right spot.

The dexter (28grm) is an excellent all round lure. Mackerel AND bass, wrasse and pollack will readily take it in the right areas. Find yourself a nice bit of rock to stand on with reasonably deep deep water to experiment from. The speed in which you retrieve your lure will govern the depth it will fish at. Just dont reel to slowly as you will loose your lure in the rocks
