would you recommend for an Orkney Fastliner 19'?
Trying to strike a balance between weight and HP.
Cheers

I would suggest a 60 or 70hp Etec
Lighter in weight than most 4-strokes, economic to run and 3yr service warranty.
2nd choice would be a 60hp Suzuki 4-stroke soooo quiet

Go for the susuki. But get the 70 its exactly the same engine just tuned up slightly. Ive got one on my predator 165 and the fuel economy is really good. The best I've had is 37mile (thats statue mile not nautical) on a 25 litre tank. That was a long run at 4100revs. I get an average of about 30 miles per tank that drops alot if I have a third person on board or I gun the engine. Funnily enough the susuki 90/ 115 weigh the same but the 140 is 3kg lighter where they have bored out the engine to give slightly more cc.

Suzuki are aiming to have the market share by 2010 so it should be a safe purchase & there should be a deal to be had. Also, I did hear from a Evinrude dealer that there had been alot of probs / returns with the etecs.

a mate had a 50 on his and found that it was under powered so he fitted a 60hp. i think that you will find that these boats are rated for 50hp max. so it might cause probs in the case of a insurance claim. but i could be wrong.

Thanks for the help folks, spoke to Orkney direct and the Fastliner is actually only rated for a 40hp engine.
