Spares for my Abu

Hi all,
My drag on my ct sportsmag is getting worse every trip. Where can i get some new fibre washer's from. Had a look on ebya but nothing listed.
Anyone got a good contact for such a thing???

It depends on what exactly you want mate, if you just want straight replacements then pure fishing will be able to help: 0845 0500093

If you want something better, www.smoothdrag.com and find the right set for your Abu, but to be honest the whole thing just confused me so I emailed the customer services girl with my reel model number and she told me the right set. They must be a good company if they employ women who actually know something about fishing (tin hat on :dunce: )

But before you go splashing £££ on spares, you might just need to clean the drag assembly without replacing the washer. Strip the drag stack down and give the whole lot a good clean with lighter fuel or something. I think the standard Abu drags needs a light coating of teflon grease too.

Abu's arent designed as a winch so dont give it harsh abuse with the new washers in as they will damage the pinion gear and others, If you are using your Abu over rough ground i would deffo advice you to get Stainless steel pinion gears.

how are the stainless pinions performing dan, ive thought about fitting them to a pair of reels myself as i tend to knock the standard ones out often, just worried the stainless pinion against the standard abu main gear will just be asking for trouble

I've stripped ther reel, cleaned the washers a few times and it's be ok but never stayed like it for long.

The drag has never been excellent but as you say they're not a winching machine.

Do you think it's worth going for the 'Smooth' washers to give a better drag??

I use a 525 mag for rough stuff so hopefully shouldn't need to change any gears
