After last weekends mayhem with 1,700 pugwashes on my mark I decided to make the journey again this week albeit with quite a large tide.
Launched just after 6am into a cloudy morning but a reasonably flat sea
Tried feathering some mackerel in the Solent on my way to the Needles but there was that much weed it was like trolling a washing line behind :bash:
Once out past the Needles the weed was much more scarce and soon caught enough for bait.
My mate was fishing from "Private Venture"which came past me and headed for a mark just outside the spoil grounds.
Headed out to one of my winter Cod marks in the middle of the spoil grounds and anchored up in 82ft,tide hadn't really picked up yet and I was able to get away with the normal 3X depth/amount of anchor line for once
Not a bait in the water yet but I'd had mackie and Bream on the bare shrimp rig :win:
Listened to the boats on the Vhf and they hadn't been catching much the last two days, basically mackie, bream and doggies. So it was rather appropriate that my 3rd species would be a doggie,b'strd :bash:
At around 1pm decided to have a rest on Scratchells Beach(it had been a long week at work :sunny: )
It was lovely laid down there chilling in the sun and I fell asleep for a few hours  )
wasn't so nice when I woke up with a face as red as a baboons a$$ :bash: :bash:
my mate had sent me a text"you won't catch fook all on that beach"
Launched again around 6pm and drifted out through the Needles Channel for a few miles but after a while the fog had started to descend :ahhh:
as I paddled back up the Solent the fog closed in behind me :ahhh:
as I got halfway through the solent part of the trip the battery gave out on the gps and I had the pleasure of trying to find the keyhaven entrance in the twilight, thankfully I got it right first time as after the long paddle/day I was knackered
