Just wondered what kind of anchor i'd need for my 9ft dinghy and also how much rope is needed, what type etc. Any suggestions would be very greatful.

Danny, it all depends on the depth you intend fishing. I would carry about five times that depth, 15 to 20 feet of chain and a small anchor 2.5 to 5 kilo again depending on what the tide runs like where you intend going.
If you are staying in the harbour then a simple mud anchor or collapsible one would do and you could probably sack the chain!

I was in the Barge Chandlery in Burseldon this afternoon and they had some 2kg copy Bruce anchors. Another chap bought one with 2 large fenders for £20, so you'll probably get an anchor and chain for the same. i would think this maybe ideal for what you need.
