Ive just finished shelling about 200 of the buggers....after seeing a guy at Dungeness loading a 2 inch x 15mm section of frozen limpets off a wooden skewer onto a baiting needle then onto a 3/0 for winter codling (and see him catch on it)I have done the same. Ended up with about 3 x 1foot sections now in cling film in the freeza for winter time. That said,I have read they are good for bass after storm conditions but must confess ive yet to have much luck with them in the summer/winter...."on anything" Does this bait feature in your fishing and catch you anything, or do you walk past it on the beach and not consider it for use........ Gazza

As you state Gazza slipper limpet after a blow can be superb. The bass come in looking for smashed up shell fish.
It is also good for tipping off rag when plaice fishing.
I've had plaice on it when tipping off and after a blow with coloured water bass and silver eels.

Try leaving them in the shed for a couple of days before you use them. They will smell a lot but this is what the fish are looking for, old dead limpets

I think you probably already know Gaz that they are a first class bait for bass on Hayling in the right conditions. Sean and I have had loads of bass with them in the past but usually at night and in the autumn, especially after we have had a blow.

Haha, sorry couldn't stop myself chuckling at the last bit On the island we tend to miss out on the slippers. The prevailing westerly winds push all the limpets northwards from the solent and they only seem to reside in the solent. We very rarley get a northerly wind strong enough to to make the solent rough enough to wash them up. Have collected them from sandhard bay and st helens after a northerly storm, but they dont happen often.
