Had my first mullet session at a local mark. After about an hour I got a few fish ranging from about 4-6lb on the feed. Long story short they won!
Only had one clean take which I missed, they hoovered up all the groundbait but mostly just pushed around my hook bait or nibbled at it.
Was using 6lb clear flurocarbon for my hooklength and I reckon they could see it. Can any of the resident mullet experts recommend a good hooklength for mullet fishing please?

6Lb Fluro should be okay
Sometimes they are just like that; which is what makes catching them so hard
I only use 6Lb line in situations where I have no choice... otherwise I go to 4Lb fluro.... it reduces the line shyness that comes with the heavier line

Were you using bread bait? Sometimes they 'sense' the hook so wrap the entire hook (I use size 4) in bread and squeeze it into a flat bait. I simply cast these out onto the surface of the water like I would a dry fly, but surrounded by other floating baits, and wait for a take. Some days you win, most days you lose If you want to fish near the bottom then try adding a few free sliding red or green beads to your snood as these colours seem to attract Mullet.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll have to stick with the 6lb at this mark as I might need the extra strength to stop fish diving for the obstructions there.
I was using bread, free-lined on a size 8 carp hook.
