Hello to all! wanted to share first trip in my yak, launched from Hastings last thursday-very hot day! :sunny: paddled out then switched to the mirage-drive that hobie designed for some of their range of kayaks. basically a push-push action using pedals connected to a clever underwater drive system that mimics the way penguins 'fly' beneath the surface-very effective and using big leg muscles means hands free for fishing!! above pic shows me enjoying great scenery and looking for prospective marks! close up of neat pedal installation, big mistake on the day was wearing farmer john wetsuit which virtually sweated every drop of water out of me took a litre of drink but underestimated effort involved in a 5 mile round trip with suit, vest, pfd on :bash: came ashore on a deserted beach for a leak-me -not the yak!! closer shot of my pride and joy in the sun!,tried trolling with deep diving plug but quite a lot of spaghetti type weed put paid to that, had quick go for makkies but not enough weight meant lures planing up behind me! :bash: all in all a great trip learning about my new craft and sea skills, the fishing skills will hopefully follow! :catch: sorry no fish pics but hope you enjoy report Si.

Saw you go past the club, it nips along with that mirage drive mate. Happy birthday, you kept that one quiet.
Rich.

Yeah cycling as opposed to paddling does have its appeal.......
