Hi. At last i have found my unused abu service kit that peteb kindly gave me a while back. In it is 2 tubes of oil One is `abu silicote reel lube`( white tube). Where should i apply this? Another is `silicot reel OIL` (clear tube). Where should i aply this one or are they prety much the same thing? Thanks for any pointers

Dave, think you will find its the same oil, different title, though if unsure, just nip the tops off and a little squirt will confirm: goes on the bearings mate.

dave.......use this oil in the bearings after cleaning......but personally think good old fashioned 3 in 1 is far better for fishing purposes ;D it does tend to suit 65s
and decent grease thats not too thick in the gears .

If the white tube has a red stripe round it then it's actually TG's Yellow rocket fuel I think (it seems that Abu must have run out of yellow pens ) This stuff goes in the bearings. I find this is ideal for distance fishing in general, with one brake block and mags as you like or one/two brake blocks for non-mag reels. I use automotive lithium based grease in all my reel gears, stays put well

Where are the bearings ? I know bearings as a race of ball bearings but cant see any of those! I bet these reels never work again after i have taken them apart! They are abu650 and abu chrome rocket

The two spool bearing are housed in each end of the spool, one under the brake block spindle and one held in the other end by a small circle clip. There's a small washer under one of them, don't lose it The third bearing is a roller bearing in side plate for the AR.
