I had a cast with one of these a few months ago, needless to say my timing is less than perfect. It nearly ripped my f***ing arms off and my back wasnt right for the rest of the day, back to my 50/50s. I dont want to judge your casting ability but unless your bloody good sell it on and go for the 4500 hpm.

F1 needs a competent caster to get the best from it,otherwise wasting your time, unforgiving if you get it wrong , whereas the F2 is a lovely rod for south coast.

ANYONE re-above..what is this thing that you have to be superman to cast tournament type rods, I'm a pensioner and use tournament type rods for rock fishing or flat ground stuff and do not have a problem with them, its a lot of hype mate, me I'm not so strong now or fit! and cannot obviously get the best out of them but for rock fishing or pulling in tons of weed they cant be beat. Its in your casting style m8 learn how to use a stiff rod and I'll bet you will enjoy it (and pain free) I know I do! lighty

anybody can cast any rod ......
no matter how stiff BUT fishing and casting in a field are two seperate issues,
smacking a stiff rod hard when fishing is easy enough but try the same in a field and the distance will be nowere near what can be acheived by a good caster with good technique ........on a floppy sock but with good technique
casting rods are a very personal thing .......with certain styles suiting certain rods
good sound basic casting technique is far more important than havin the latest pole.......most decent rods these days have the POTENTIAL to cast big big distances ...........if the caster is able !!
as an example ive been using a zziplex 45oo S and zziplex dymic hst on the field.........one in my opinion is a top fishing rod the other a top casting rod.......the distances are more or less identical with both rods SUPRISE!!!!
The reason being with a 45ooS my limited but basically sound technique gets a decent bend in the rod , it feels nicer as its softer BUT the HST HAS LOADS MORE POTENTIAL !!!!!!! Im just not good enough to use it :' the only way i could get more distance from the HST and use the potential in the rod isto improve myself!!!! of course distance would improve a bit with the 4500s as well but the POTENTIAL in the HST is far greater
honest but true and far far too many people get bitten in the ass when reality kicks in and find that big dannys 300 yard pole doesnt quite suit them and makes there backs hurt !!!!
believe me even TOP casters get injured when tournament casting when they get it wrong........it happens and it hurts !!!
RODS are a matter of personal choice and use whatever makes you happy .....as long as you enjoy it who cares if its a 50 quider or costs 400 !!!
gone of a bit here but as i said i think tournament casting issues and fishing distance isnt comparable..............
i could use my HST with a short swing on the beach or rocks ...hit it hard and all would be fine........but that doesnt mean its fine in the field
chalk and cheese
to me for fishing bite detection and feel are the most important aspects in my fishing rods .............
the caster casts the rod not the other way round
and for fishing .......terrain,tides,weed type of fishing etc etc all have a bearing on what type of rod is suited better to what is thrown at it ....
im an ok fisherman .........but a less than ok field caster ;D

Hit the nail on the head there guys, its technique not brute force that makes a good caster! Unfortunately Im lacking a bit in both departments so the F1 is out the window for me. Im getting there slowly but im no where near as good as I thought I was before the first time I stepped on the oche! I expect its the same for most people but until you have a go you will never know what you are doing wrong.
