When I'm plugging or spinning I'm not static so have to travel light. Apart from a spare spool of mono leader and a multi tool, all I carry is a very small box of lures, all of which fit into the chest pocket of my waders.
So to my question... The lures I carry are: Dexter Wedge, my old faithful Rapala J13, some home-made spoons, and some home tied tube flies. I admit to having better than moderate success with these lures BUT is it time to join the 21st Century?
Is there a better combination of lures I could carry to give myself more of an edge?

It's worth carrying some lures that cast better than the J13/11 such as Maria Angel Kiss, Maria SW, Maria BW. These are shallow divers. It's also worth carrying some jointed rattling lures that cast well such as Storm Jointed Thunderstick's, these work well in darkness. Still, if you're having "better than moderate" success, then stick with what you have

Took your advice and bought a couple of Maria Chase SW plugs. They look a bit odd to my old-fashion tastes but boy do they work well The only complaint I have with them is that I got so carried away using them that I didn't notice the tide turn and a big wave coming... Squelchy waders all the way back to the car If you want a guaranteed killer boat and deep spinning lure for Bass try these beauties - Prologic SavageAR 16cm 42g Sandeels:

Only comment I would make is that if it looks like a sand eel, an awful lot of fish will go for it. I used to use a rubber eel with a one ounce drilled bullet for casting weight years ago in the Exe estuary and got a couple of decent bass virtually every time. I also remember a wrecking trip when a bloke insisted using a rubber eel even though we had live eels on board. He caught more bass and pollack than the rest of us.

Hi Martin. I like the looks of those! 42g, that's a pretty good casting weight too for a heavier spinning rod. They look like they'd drag through weed well. Is there a UK supplier? I only seem to be able to see continental stockists.
Steve.

I'll be stocking them myself soon as I may have a contact for the importer

Harris Sports Mail has them in, £5.99 a pop (1 head + 2 soft bodies per set). www.harrissportsmail.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=17311Unless of course you found your own importer and can do us a better deal? Steve.

last year i found the owner savoy minnow 18gm to be the best all rounder for me followed by the holographic silver maria chase. both lures cast well with light braid and hook fish in all light and water conditions.

Spankin lure the owner, bought four incase they stop making them Had some great sessions on them a couple of year ago.. The Teklon Shibui is a killer, in low light conditions...

Am I the only one that looks at £20 lures and laughs? Some of them Megabass lures look ace, but £20? I'd jump in after it if I got it snagged!

youve obviously been looking at the lures at mrfishjersey.com £20 is extreme but id happily pay a tenner for a lure if it takes my fancy. they say lures hook more anglers than fish
