I'm not sure between the difference from whiplash but I have used Berkleys Fireline in 30lb test & its proved excellent (for two to three years now on some of my reels). Very highly recommended.

Make sure you use a round profile braid otherwise it can vibrate in a tide. Some manufacturers quote suspiciously low diameters because the braid is actually oval in shape. Also the number of strands is important. In my mind, the higher the better (normally 4 or 8 strand). 8 strand gives a nice round profile - like micro rope. I use Daiwa Tournament Braid (the multi coloured stuff - although they do a single colour version). I fish 15lb braid most of the time in the Solent. For Blondes I might step up to the 'heavy' 20lb set up! Deffo need a leader though.

I tried and failed to find the last thread on this subject We kind of reached the same conclusions again... which helps prove we are consistent It looks like there is no one line that is best.... it comes down to preferences and taste rather than straight forward tidal drag or abrasion resistance. As for line being able to cope in big tides... I would say that if you are going to fish anything from 25 metres to 30+ metres then in any spring you are going to be struggling on high diametre braids... and using 2Lb of lead is going to spoil the fishing experience But if you stick to 20 metre or less marks then you will get away with thicker lines even on big tides
