Remember my postings on electronics in angling?
Forget it!
Here is a simple answer to all those expensive hi tek lures: the Magnetic Booby Bead.
All you have to do is replace the non magnetic ball bearing with a strongly magnetic one. Even an angler could manage that! :sunny:
This is the practical answer to my self generating coil, described in my previous postings. The theory is straightforward and proven (by reall scientists). Movement of a magnet in an electro-conductive medium will produce electrical currents. Sea water is an electro-conductive medium.
The only question is how big an electrical field will a given magnet produce! The best magnets for the job are neodymium magnets, which are up to 3 times as powerful as ordinary magnets. These are the types of magnets the scientists used in their experiments.
SO! Replacing the non-magnetic rattler in conventional booby beads should enhance an already proven fish attractor.
You may be sat there wondering where the hell you can lay your hands on neodymium magnets. Well they are easier to buy than you might think. Google 'em on line, as I did, last Friday. My consignment of 216 4.6mm neodymium magnetic balls arrived this lunchtime.
They are amazingly powerful for their small size. I was going to say, do not use 'em in double boobies, when I realised that doubles might work better! (for obvious reasons)

:nerd: Cant wait to hear how well it works and what you catch, very innovative! A big hats off for pushing the boundries and making it happen

I won't be testing them myself. Jason will be doing that (Royal Mail permitting).
Maw has me confined to the house at the moment....... disabled you see...........
I'm sourcing pre-drilled magnetic beads at the moment; to add to spinning lures and the like. The nett cost of this option should be less than 20p, retail.

The best way to use predrilled magnets is likely to be as beads at the front end of spinnaers, or redgills and the like.
Quick jerks (like me) should create micro currents, enough to attract. According to research scientists, fish can detect electric fields in the order of microvolts.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
I should get those magnets away to you this week, Jason.

I have spread a few dozen prototypes around the Sea Angling Glitterati, for trial.
I have another few dozen available for the Hoi Polloi Angling set, enough for 10 trialists, whoever gets there first.
Drop me a private message with mailing details, if you want a couple of traces worth.
Know-alls need not apply.

Be interesting to hear how they fare.

The theory is strong. However, I am open minded.
I am looking to prove, or disprove the theory. It is, for me, a practical intellectual exercise......... and a bit of fun...........

Oh! the base cost of these bait hook and lure attachments is 12.5p!
I shall not be charging anybody for them. I would just like to hear the results of anglers' trials.

i ve done 2/3 trips with the booby beads and we have had cod on them and when fishing was slow they gave more bits to the rods that had them on will keep you posted :fishing-smile:

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, moonstonechick1 !
I'll send you some of these new mounts, for use on bait hooks and lures.

Maw made a suggestion, which has kept me awake, thinking.
If the magnets prove to be working, then I shall be making a significant improvement to how they are used, which should enhance the production of electrical impulses quite dramatically.
I shall, however, because of the work involved, only be offering them on e-bay.......... after protecting the designs.
These jiggers will be considerably more expensive than bare beads; probably between £1 and £1.50, I'm afraid........... but far better than £16.00!
